UK's One Direction has one direction- up.

One direction is a boy band formed in the United Kingdom.
This band consists of five boys with the names of Zayn Malik being 19, Liam Payne being 19,Harry Styles being 18, Niall Horan being 19, and Louis Tomlinson being 21.
There fame begins with UK's X Factor.
They first auditioned separated for the X Factor UK. The five of them were then put together into a group. This put them under the mentor of Simon Cowell, or as the five boys call him "Uncle Simon." During the UK's X Factor of 2010, they came in third place but made more than the winner with a two million pound contract with Syco Records.
This boy band is now all the rage with their first album being released in November 2011 in the UK. Because of all their popularity, they were placed on the UK Album Chart as No. 2, and in UK Single Charts as No. 1 with the song "What Makes You Beautiful."
Here in America, boy bands seem to come and go. One can only wonder how long One Direction will last or if they are indeed the next "Beetles." Under the watchful and protective eye of Simon Cowell, I am sure this band will go far with their perky, charming, and musical talent.
Their videos portray them as normal young men having fun which makes them more relatable to the average teen and many others.
One Direction's direction is surly up. All the best.

The story of the Hot Cross Buns

Today, you might have the opportunity to enjoy a hot cross bun. If you do, remember what it is representing. The white cross in the middle of the bun stands for the cross where Jesus was crucified on Good Friday. The bun's round figure symbolizes the rock which was rolled away from the tomb on Easter Sunday when Jesus rose from the dead and was alive. In 1733, the use of the word hot cross buns was first documented, but it could have been about much earlier to the point of pre-dating Christianity.

Here is the ingredients needed to make Hot Cross Buns:

3/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon instant powdered milk
1/4 cup white sugar
3/8 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 egg white
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
3/4 cup dried currants
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 egg yolk
2 tablespoons water
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons milk

This is a yummy way to remember what Christ did for us.

Your Heritage.

I never listened much to my mum nor my dad talk about history as a child. I lived quite a distance from any relatives and so what was the need. The older I have got the more I realize that history matters. So every time I get the chance I ask my mum lots about her family. My mother is a wealth of inspiration it was as I was living my own history book and my own heritage was coming alive. Yesterday it got me wow one day someone will look me up and see me and say she was the one who moved to America. Then I felt so proud of all my relatives who had served for my country. I could not believe the wealth of information that I so ignored when I was younger and that I cherish now.
I really encourage you to take the time to look up your family tree. Ask. take notes. make word documents about your history. Your apart of it and that tree is what makes you, you today.

This site is a wealth of information I found it very helpful. Parishes often have there own records. But the best information is often from our living relatives.
Take the time to leave a little history behind.

England springs forward 2012.

Tonight in England the clocks spring forward. I will have to say I love spring in England. There is nothing like the wonderful colours of spring and hearing the lambs and chicks. It is a sign that the long winter days are perhaps out of sight for a few months. I saw this article on BBC and I thought I would share it.
I lived near Cromer as a child and the old deck chair, just brings backs happy memories of seeing grand dad's with the old handkerchief tied at each corner placed on their heads, to keep the sun away from them.
Be adventurous if you are in England drive and see those amazing spring colours because I have not seen anything like it.

Prime minister plays angry birds and much more from England.

This week what has got my attention well America is now on Spring time. Most Americans do not know what Mothering Sunday and is nor want to know. I saw that England is hosting the first International Bagpipes day. Can you believe it that there are one hundred and thirty bagpipes.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17325078
I will have to say I like the bagpipes.
I found this report by Kate Holmes very interesting. How cool for her to have been that close to the sun.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-17277735
On a more funny note. Many children love angry bird and the games. Well they are not alone, as we found out that our Prime Minister often plays angry Bird.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/schoolreport/17315004
Also we have our first teen Poet Laureate
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-17293098
Congrats to Will Portsmouth may he inspire other young people to write.
So to conclude this week in England parents it is ok for your kids to be playing angry bird, look where it might get them perhaps to 10 Downing street like our own Prime Minister. Keep playing those blades of grass in your garden perhaps there will be a blade of grass blowing day just like the bagpipes day and lastly parents let your kids write on the corner of papers poems you never know your toddler may be the next poet Laureate.

London's Olympics

Recently, London, England, is getting prepared for Olympics 2012.
While London is getting into the spirit of fun, some of the people are reuniting with their old Olympic chums. Though some have decided to retire, I am sure this Olympics is going to be a good one. It is in London, that has to count for something.
Here are some pictures of the up-and-coming event of Olympics 2012.
Please Enjoy.
