How many clothes are in your closet?

Have you ever thought of the question, "How many clothes are in your closet?"
A lot of us have many clothes- and let's not forget shoes- in our cupboard. While the ones we don't like, we just get rid of. But where do you put those ones?
Did you know that each person, on an average, throws out 68 pounds of clothes per year into the trash?
This is horrible. There are people who don't even have clothes or food. Some children who don't have these necessities will go through the trash looking for their desired and very much needed things.
We should reach out and help others. Who knows that one day, we could be in that same needing situation, and wouldn't you want others to help you?
So see where you can make a difference. Giving your unwanted or outgrown toys, clothes, shoes, or whatever to organizations or even people in your neighborhood who need it. Just because people are not on the streets does not mean they might be finding it tough. Especially in today's economy, every hand helping makes a difference.

Take a moment to read Percy the Park Keeper.

If you have ever walked the many wonderful stately homes and large parks of England, no doubt you have come across a gardener or even a park keeper. Their knowledge of the grounds which they take care of is like an encyclopedia to a world of absolute sheer delight for anyone who embraces nature. It is as if the earth and soil come alive by their love of the very grounds they keep. The knowledge that they have of the animals and wildlife is like rich soil being turned over to plant new seeds. Ever awakening the heart of a country-loving girl like me. There is a children's author who depicts such a wonderful man. "Percy the Park Keeper" by Nick Butterworth will have you transported to those wonderful grounds in England. He brings alive a love for the animals there and never lets go of how British a park keeper is.
So next time you are thinking of buying a book about England I dare you to read, yes a children's book, about "Percy the Park Keeper." You, I hope will love it just like me.

Wake up one morning and see the glory of England.

I love the English countryside and how it can transport you back into time. One can imagine the many novels that were written in England like Jane Eyre and be transported back to those days by simply looking at the wonderful countryside. If you are over in England wake up early one morning in a village or take a drive in the countryside and see the mist coming up from the grounds. It is as if it is calling you to a time once lived and a time past. I found that for sure in the Lake District.

Feeding 5000 Trafalgar square.

We all have heard the stories from the Bible of the feeding of the 5000, however it is true that story has a new meaning in the world we live in. I watched a program recently about the food we waste and then I googled that exact topic. I found this site. http://www.feeding5k.org/ Yes it is true in Trafalgar square this November 5000 people were given fed for free. How can this be? In the society that we live in everything has to be cosmetically correct no flaws. However that is is simply not true for the human being or everything that is produced from the earth. A carrot which comes out of the ground with a fork like appearance is discarded a bruised apple or fish, supermarkets cannot sell this as the consumer will not buy a flawed item. All this food is gone to waste. So the people who organized feeding the 5000 took this food and fed 5000 people. In the world we live in perhaps we should think, is better it to give a farmer a job or be so picture perfect that half his crop which is not cosmetically correct to us goes to waste and his job is on the line.
I remember as a child been told think of all those starving people. How little we forget. Please do your part to make a difference.

Helping animals throughout the winter.

Many wild animals in England need our help to survive the harsh winters that England can has.
You should leave out food for birds such as unsalted peanuts- as the salted ones are toxic to them, grated cheese, breadcrumbs that are moist, cake crumbs, cooked rice, cooked potato, cooked pasta, bacon rind that is unsalted, and fruit. Be careful with grapes, raisins, sultanas, and artificial sweeteners as they are poisonous to dogs. Also, their food should be placed where a bird can get it but not other animals. So keep the food high and out of reach for dogs.
Make sure your rabbit hut is cleaned frequently as soggy paper can freeze and make your rabbit quite cold. Make sure also that his water is changed as much as possible so there is no ice in it. Their food should not be given frozen or frosted with ice as it could make them very ill.
Here is a site you can visit to find out how you can help the hedgehogs who are declining and need our help: http://www.britishhedgehogs.org.uk/SOBH2011lowres.pdf

Washing lines.

In England we are famous for putting are washing on the clothes lines. I will have to say I have rarely seen clothes drying outside in America. I loved as a child pegging clothes out. I remember clothes coming in as stiff as card after staying out all night and the hard frost getting them. However you can sense the part of history in a clothes line. Looking back at pictures from years gone by and seeing many a housewife talking to her neighbor as she pegs out her washing.
I know many countries use tumble dryers. But the smell of the fresh air on your clothes is just part of our history. They can even by found knitted on a tea cozy.
So as you travel across England and see those clothes lines just remember it is just another part of our history and to be blunt it sure cuts down on the electricity bill.

Empowering Exceptional room you can make a difference.

I am not one to post the same on both of my blogs but if you go to http://www.cornfielddreams.blogspot.com you will read nearly the same.
I have seen a lot happen in the past years and through my journey it has been my desire to make a difference in this world we all live in. As a child I always wanted to make a difference not knowing how to do that. In 2011 I started a group on facebook, last week i added a friend from school. The group has now gone from 40 members on New years Eve 2011 to 149 members today. I am asking if you can help in anyway and want to make a difference and encourage others to please consider joining this group. Below is the information.

Well here we are 2012. I am not a person to promote anything that I do not believe in Last year I started up a group on facebook called empowering exceptional women. Here is the link.
empoweringexceptionalwomen@groups.facebook.com
The group is designed to encourage and strengthen women through life, giving them hope, direction and encouragement.
I would like to ask you to consider looking up this group and becoming a part of it.
The plan would be to get companies on board that could help women get jobs.
Together we can make a difference one woman at a time holding each other up through some very tough times.
Wishing you all a Happy New year
