Scotty McCreery is wearing giant's boots at Disney.

Scotty McCreery has taken on Disney. By explaining what his song I Love You This Big means to him. His bold statement that it meant His Lord love him this big is such an encouragement and a stand for such a young man. Giants better beware. This young man is not afraid to wear his giant's boots that God has given him to share his belief.

Look Around

We are off to the beach this summer like many other people are. But when you go on vacation, do you really think about how lucky you are? You've got the money to go there, food and water, and I'm sure you have many clothes to change into. We are so blessed, though we do not seem to understand how blessed we are. In 2008, nine million children died before the age of five. A third of this was because of hunger. We should be thrifty with everything that we have been blessed with and share our wealth, even if it is just paying for someones lunch or a candy bar. To someone that could mean the world. If you can't help the people in another country, then help the people who live around you. I bet there is at least one family who really needs someone's help. Maybe God wants you to step up to the plate today. You never know how much of a blessing you could be until you do it. Just like Brandon Heath's song Give Me Your Eyes, see just how much you have been missing but more importantly how much more we can all give and help.
So today, wherever you go, look around and realize that there is a God.

Drink lots of water

As the heat rises one thing is for sure make sure you drink lots and lots of water. I love hot tea but one thing I have grown to love is green tea. I have a friend who is a nurse if you are as blessed as me to have a friend that is a nurse ask lots of questions or go to a herbal shop. It is always good to try to buy products that are organic products they truly are better for us. We grew vegetables one year it was great so take the time grow vegetables go to the market or farmers market and just make some better choices.
Well enjoy this summer.

Better than a Hallelujah song my children.

As I mentioned in my English delights blog I heard this wonderful song by Amy Grant this week called Better than a Hallelujah song. As I have watched my children go through my brothers death and my divorce and the lose of their school. I see truly that their lives have been much Better than Hallelujah song their testimony their faith is nothing but a true testimony of God. Many of us can say we believe in God but when the rains and storms come where is their testimony then.
If you have lived near a beach you see the light of a light house in the winter times bringing home the fisher mens boats. So God has shone his light through my children in very rough times.
I remember singing songs my mum sung to me when they were little now as they are older they sing their own songs to God. Who has much more than me seen their tears and heard their cries.
So to all you single mothers and mum's God see's it all.
Thank you God for my wonderful blessings you see so much more than I could ever and I am so thankful for My Hallelujah song

A book worth reading this summer Doctor Dolittle.

Dear English Delights,
There are many books that you might like to read this summer one of them I particularly like is called Doctor Dolittle. Doctor Dolittle is about a doctor that becomes a vetinarian. One of the animals that he helps to feel better is a monkey. Because Doctor Dolittle healed the monkeys the monkeys saved his life. Doctor Dolittle is a wonderful book that was written by Hugh Lofting and is such a great book to read this summer. Make sure it's on your reading list.
Sincerely
Katie

Scotty McCreery Winner of American Idol in more ways than just the show.

Scotty McCreery will be the talk in many homes around the south of America and many cities he will be on twitter, face book and news media reports throughout. But lets recap this young man took strides yes not steps in giants boots and stood before America as he was told he was the next American Idol and said I Thank the Lord, followed by his parents thanking his church and people praying. That is what makes this American Idol a person to admire. He stands in a Goliaths camp and Fox could not edit those words Thank the Lord. Indeed if I could say one reason for following this young man it was his faith and I am proud he stood there and Praised God. God was proud I am sure. He then did not bash his other contestants and the young lady he sung against Lauren instead he praised her and although I said somethings about the mommy song I truly believe Miss Lauren has a heart of gold and has a strong future ahead. My prayer for both these singers is stay close to God and praise, praise his name and he will do the rest.
So from English Delights and Cornfield Dreams blogs my family and I wish you both the very best and offer our prayers and so go beat the Goliaths.
Wishing Scotty many Tasty English Delights

American Idol Finale or is it. I think the best is yet to come.

Well for anyone watching American Idol I will have to say that two young people did sing a good show down. I personally did not like some of the choices in clothing that Lauren wore as a mother I guess I am very modest. The last song she sang was gut wrenching song for mothers. However I wonder if that song had been sung by Scotty if that would have had a different emotions from mothers. One thing is for sure Scotty McCreery whatever the outcome should be proud he did not compromise his stand for Christ and was a true example of been a Godly man in a giants camp.
My hope for anyone watching the outcome is that they say what dreaming big can do. But let me make this clear dreams only can grow that big if God allows them to. Some do grow without God but many also fall.
So remember for sure have the tea ready mum it's going to be long night

Scotty McCreery sings to be a true Role model for America

We all dream big dreams. Scotty McCreery chose to dream his dream at a mere 15 years of age and go for it by auditioning for American Idol. Now in the top two he gets to sing from his heart. A young man not afraid to walk in giants boots against the music industry and talk about his belief in God and to quote a verse at his concert in Garner NC.
We all have dreams I suggest to those of you who are young do not be envious of this young man rather dream big like him and who knows where it will take you.

Hand-me-downs and second-hand clothes

As a child, I remember having some of my sister's hand-me-down clothes. Kerry liked black. I liked red. So I guess in the end, I didn't end up with many of her clothes. Today, she sends me some of her clothes. She still like black. I still like red. However, in it all, I love to receive her clothes. And my snobby days of thinking that hand-me-down clothes or second-hand clothes weren't very good has gone. It is such a blessing to be handed a box of clothes when really you don't have much money to buy clothes for your children or yourself. To walk into a thrift store or go to a jumble sale and find good quality shoes for $4.00. I call these moments a blessing and encouragement. Many people consign clothes at consignment places. When I have done this, the money has helped me out immensely. So go ahead, look in your cupboard, and see how you can be a blessing to someone else. What you might think is out of day, someone might think is vintage, I mean your Nan's jewelry is now all back in fashion and what a tremendous way to honor her by wearing it. What you might see no good, someone might see a huge blessing. At the end of the day, it is true. It is better to give than to receive.

Princes Beatrice hat sold for how much !!!!

Princes Beatrice has sold her hat that she wore to Will and Kate's wedding for a mere $131,650 all the money has gone to UNICEF. This hat has sure raised a lot of attention with many of us bloggers writing about it and news media commenting about that hat. One thing is for sure she sure got a lot of attention from the hat being called a toilet seat to antlers. Perhaps next time there is a Royal wedding it should be stipulated what type of head gear is allowed.
I wonder perhaps we should all look around our houses and come up with some hat culture and hey e bay it for a huge amount, hey any spare potty's please make sure that they are empty before we turn them into a hat.
Perhaps the mad hatter should of done this with his hats, then he could indeed afford more Un-Birthday's and of course more tea.
Well what ever hat you wear remember the best hat you can ever wear is the hat that simply says you and that might not even be a hat it might be you being a great mum or a great person whatever enjoy it. You do not have to wear a toilet seat or antlers on your head to get attention. Just be you and that is good enough.

Make memories this summer.

As summer comes the sprinklers and slip and slides all come out. The showers are rare and the long summer is here. The wait for the cool breeze of fall seams light years away. In truth life is like this we are often running for that slip and slide not necessarily understanding that we are going to fall flat on our faces if we run to fast it all looks inviting and so we run just to find out that it was not so fun. But then there are those times in life when you have been through a trial or something and just a cool shower of hope makes you feel great. As summer comes really embrace it enjoy the cool breezes when they come make memories along a beach, or when you go for a walk and be thankful for every memory you make. Plant a garden sing in the rain and laugh.

Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina making a difference

They say certain singers are role models well here you go. Two young singers singing their hearts out. I do not know Laurens stand with God. But it is evident that Scotty McCreery walks with giants feet in a young mans body holding onto his faithful cross that he wears every time we see him. Look what David did to Goliath I wonder what a young man like this can do for God in the giants camp of the music industry.
We all should dream big Giants need a little reminder God wins.

Books now in movies

I absolutely think it is wonderful how so many children's books are being turned into movies from Ramona and Beezus by Beverly Clearly to Judie Moody by Megan McDonald, Lemonade Mouth by Mark Peter Hughes and then of course classic Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater which my daughter loved that is out in theatres this summer starring Jim Carrey. Lovely books that bring imagination to life. In Lemonade Mouth, the film on Disney really allows teens to have a voice to be heard. I thought it was excellent. Ramona and Beezus just reminded me so much of childhood and having fun.
If you have never read good children's books then I suggest you do. Classics like the Railway Children by Edith Nesbit, Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild, Wind and the Willows by Kenneth Grahame, and C.S. Lewis's books to name a few. The Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson I have never read the book but the movie was amazing.
Allow your life to be filled with classics that allow us as people or children to stand up for what we believe in and to imagine. Go for it, Dream Big, and you never know where it will take you.

Where have the knights from old gone!!

Etiquette to some a thing from the past. But lets be real it is so nice when a man walks on the outside of the path, when a door is open to a woman or an older person. When you see a smiling face at a store. When if you don't have the right change it's not a big deal someone treats you still with respect and politeness. The days when a man would seat his lady where have those days gone. To many they are all but in days of old when the knight killed the dragon and won his fair maiden. I ask you seriously don't you wish that more people were just more polite and men treated women like they were a rose not a coke can ready to go through the crasher to be recycled.
Come on be different make a difference be a knight from old, be a fair maiden you can do it I know you can.
Or have the knights all turned into Lego bricks?

Scotty McCreery just a normal teen.

Scotty McCreery was once just a normal teen went to church, did homework and worked in a grocery store. Then he went on American Idol and life changed. He is now a hometown hero but the few people who knew before his fame just view him as a normal teen who loved baseball and his music. God has so put this teen in a position to touch many people for Christ. I think many people get caught up in the stardom of things. Billy Graham has not sung on American Idol but look where he has ended up. Steven Curtis Chapman I wonder where he first began, his testimony and his families testimony is amazing. Corrie ten Boom a woman who was just an ordinary girl yet her life has touched others.
You may look at Scotty McCreery and have google eyes but God see's him no different than you and me and expects in fact more of those placed in the limelight so when you think of American Idol or the X factor remember everyone is watching you and your testimony of who you are will either shine or be a complete mess.
I always liked the saying never forget where you have come from that is so true.
So to any of you out there go make a difference

Scotty McCreery making a difference for God.

You know it is very rare to see a young man make such a stand like Scotty has. At his homecoming concert he quoted God so much and not just saying it to look good. You could tell that this young man had a true genuine heart. My heart went out to him and his family. As a single mum I truely admire families that stick together and raise amazing children. Not saying that a single parent cannot. But here even through Hollywood this young man stayed close to God. Scotty should dignity and wisdom not caring about popularity but making sure that God got the credit for bringing him this far.

My girls dad Tim made a sign for my girlies and Emily got to give it to Scotty.

Scotty our wish for you is that you make a difference for God if this first concert is an example of your standing I am sure you will do very well.

Scotty McCreery making a stand.

In life there are often open doors open to us to reach a wider audience. As we watch American Idol a young man called Scotty McCreery has realy stood out. I am not a big country fan but this young man could make anyone love country his moral standards of how he beliefs in God shine through. It is not easy to make a stand and making a stand in such a place as Hollywood is no easy feet. I am presently impressed that even when given advice about song choices he has kept to his standards unlike some of the other contestants who seem to allow fame to dictate their choices.
My hope for this young man is that he holds onto his beliefs regardless of the fame.
As he plays at a concert in Raleigh North Carolina this coming weekend my hope is that he will remember to keep to his beliefs and that others are watching him, he indeed can be a role model to reach out to others like we all can if we choice to.

On your marks get set..go Duchess of Cambridge.

As many were off to the races at the Kentucky Derby. The Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton) was out practising for the olympics for the tandem race with her trolley at a local Waitrose. I loved going around Waitrose in England. Good for her that she is for the moment just being herself. Trolley cart and all. I do have to question I wonder how she paid! I am sure her debit card or cash was readily approved no phone number needed nor identification. Not like here where on a cheque everything is needed. Go for it Kate set the example for the Royals.

Perhaps Charles and Camille will be the next trolley carters maybe seen at Tesco's or Sainsburys or maybe Food Lion.

Mad hatter's hats strike again.

Lets face it we all had a dig at some of the hats worn at the Royal wedding. But if you look around and compare some hats it appears that the mad hatter lives in some designers. It appears that the Mad hatter came over to the Kentucky Derby his styles were on not just a lasses head but indeed men included were drawn by the madness. Mad hatter where will you strike next.

Single mum's you are strong brave and beautiful.

I have so much respect for single mum's anyone who has ever walked a mile in a single mum's shoes will see the many tears cried and sweated everything is on their shoulders good bad and ugly.
Today in America it is Mothers day. I was blessed to receive an ecard that was sent to me by two amazing young ladies who I am extremly blessed to know.
So to all you mum's/mom's or even women going through hard times these words are for you to hold onto. Be blessed I hope like I was.

You're Strong, Brave, and Beautiful.
Life is hard sometimes- crazy, mixed up, messed up.
And there you are in the middle of it just doing your thing...
Being strong and brave and beautiful.
Like it's no big deal.
But let me tell you, girl, it is.
Not everyone can do what you do.
Not everyone can handle things the way you can.
While you wonder sometimes if you're doing ok.
The rest of us are just watching in wonder.

A day for everything

After finding out that yesterday was National no wear pants day. I decided to look up today. Many a woman will be excited to head off to Michaels stores and your local craft stores to buy yes today is National scrap book day. It amazes me that in a world where the economy is so bad we have all these special days perhaps it is done to encourage us to push our wages into the economy thus miraculously making it better. I am not sure.
However to you scrapbook fans
Happy Scrapbook day.

No pant day whatever next??

Well I have heard it all I was on the internet today and saw yes can you believe it in Denver which I would imagine is a little chiller than the south they Have today as No pants Day. I have never heard of anything so silly. It appears there are days for everything I guess if you put them all on a calendar the calendar would be filled. I mean what a market for the card retailers my friend in England who paints would now have a market to draw more things as well as snow scenes. With pant day I did read that they are asking people to donate their pants. I do hope that on Saturday they get some new ones on. I mean somethings are best not seen. I think that perhaps we should have a no hat day especially for some Royal Brits.

Bagpuss Memory Lane

I love to go down memory lane and see Bagpuss

asleep in the window again.

To see the mice come alive,

And fix broken things, one or even two.

There's Madeline, the rag doll,

Full of stories galore.

And Gabriel, the toad, who sings a song

To soothe our soul.

The Prefessor waffles along.

The things are fixed and to the window they are gone,

When Emily comes along.

Bagpuss, fat furry catpuss, you'll never be gone.

Wish you lots of Tasty English Delights.

Royal extremes

As I reflect on the Royal wedding I thought a little fun was due.

So below join me in this little song it is sung to the tune of "God save our Gracious Queen."

I hope you have a little laugh.

God save our royal extremes.
Long live Princess Eugene.
God save our royal extremes!

Send Beatrice home of course,
Happy and glorious,
Long to buy hats for us,
God save our royal extremes!

Will and Kate cycling in the moonlight.

Mayor Boris gave Will and Kate a tandem bike,
they gave me such a fright as I saw them cycling in the Mews in the moonlight.
They're practising for the Olympic games and hope to win first place again.
Mum don't forget to put the kettle on, as we might see them in sight
cycling by our house tonight.

The Royal Wedding in Rhyme- Part 1

I've heard it all, from tripping policeman making the crowds roar, from Will and Kate on fridge doors, to pearly whites engraved with Will and Kate forever more to adore. It appears the Mad Hatter lent his hats not just one but many at that royal act. With red, white, and blue flags flying high, and many a single lass waiting for Prince Harry to come by. With telly's on ,we watched balloons floating by, filling up the British skies. And joining in, in our English delights, we must not forget to put out our royal gnomes in the garden tonight. Let's not forget our furry friends, and buy them a Will and Kate coat for them to wear around the bend. So as my rhyme comes to an end, we're British royals til the end.
