Washing lines.
In England we are famous for putting are washing on the clothes lines. I will have to say I have rarely seen clothes drying outside in America. I loved as a child pegging clothes out. I remember clothes coming in as stiff as card after staying out all night and the hard frost getting them. However you can sense the part of history in a clothes line. Looking back at pictures from years gone by and seeing many a housewife talking to her neighbor as she pegs out her washing.
I know many countries use tumble dryers. But the smell of the fresh air on your clothes is just part of our history. They can even by found knitted on a tea cozy.
So as you travel across England and see those clothes lines just remember it is just another part of our history and to be blunt it sure cuts down on the electricity bill.
Wishing you lots of Tasty English Delights.
There's always room for one more.
